The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins

Countless people recommended this book to me, but I resisted reading it for a long time because the premise just didn't appeal to me - a dystopian society where the government mandates each year that 24 young people (ages 12 to 18) compete in a publicly televised fight-to-the-death... and their parents do nothing. Nothing.

That said, it's very thrilling YA fiction and I can certainly see why the book is so popular. I'm glad I read it and I admit I'm curious to know how the story plays out, but I doubt I'll be picking up the next book in the series any time soon.
